Equal justice & free legal aid

Wishes foundation provides legal counsel to the needy who are not able to afford a counselor. We also adopted new methods for bringing the problem of the poor before the courts by way of Public Interest Litigation.

Equal justice and free legal aid are the aims of the Wishes foundation. The constitution of India provides under article 39A that the state shall secure the operation of the legal systems that promotes justice on the basis of equal opportunity, and shall, in particular, provide free legal aid to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disability. Wishes Foundation is arranging a number of workshops and seminars on legal Aid.

Today atrocities against women and children are on a hike. They are denied and deprived of their rights. Many of them are not able to safeguard their rights or vindicate them before the court because of poverty and penury. Moving the court for redressal of grievances involves financial implications. Also, the traditional rule of locus standi stood as a stumbling block for a third party to appear before the court on behalf of the needy.
